Electronic Submission Tracking and Reporting (ESTR) Outage and Release Information

June 12, 2014

The next release of changes for the Electronic Submission Tracking and Reporting (ESTR) system for IRBs will be completed after hours Friday, June 27, through Sunday, June 29.  During this time, ESTR will be unavailable.

This release is focused on upgrading key background and administrative functionality within the IRB system. This release also impacts the following elements of IRB system use:

  • Search and Reporting
      • Typing information into a filter bar no longer automatically triggers the filter. The filter will only trigger when the user clicks ‘go’ or Enter.
      • Person chooser pop-up windows allow for search by email.
  • SmartForm Navigation
      • When the form is saved, a ‘Please wait’ notice briefly appears.
      • The "Exit without saving changes" is now a modal box, to ensure it is not affected by a browser pop-up blocker. It also has friendlier text buttons.
  • Submission Workspace and Activities
      • Paragraph spacing in activity comment boxes now display when you view the submission history in Internet Explorer.
      • For some activities, hovering over the activity will display further information about the activity
      • A status bar appears on those activities that change the submission state.
      •  “Read more” indicators on the workspace history are larger.
      • A “return to workspace link” has been added and navigation links are larger when you view activity history details.

Up-to-date and more detailed release information, ESTR job aids, and training information are available on our support site: estrsupport.fss.harvard.edu.
