A HUBS Upgrade is Coming November 9th

October 15, 2015

You may have heard a rumor that HUBS is being upgraded and it’s true. The upgrade will bring a new look and feel to your Planning Application, but the same forms, business rules and reports that you use today will still be there. In other words, there will be no new or changed business processes due to the upgrade.

Along with the Planning Application upgrade, the underlying database will also be upgraded. The database upgrade will keep HUBS on a vendor supported platform and will allow us to continue to apply patches that include enhancements and bug fixes as they become available.

The new version also includes a few new features. The new features and some tips to help you work in the new version will be available in the release notes which will be posted to the HUBS Wiki towards the end of this month.

During the installation of the upgrade HUBS will be unavailable to all users. The installation is currently scheduled to begin at 5:00pm on Friday, November 6th, and will continue through to 9:00am on Monday, November 9th.

The new version will allow HUBS users to FINALLY move off of Internet Explorer 8, but you may not want to upgrade your browser just yet. You need Internet Explorer 8 to use HUBS until  November 9th. Once the upgrade is installed, HUBS will work on Internet Explorer versions 11, 10 and 9. We have begun reaching out school/unit IT groups to let them know about the new browser requirements and we will send you an update on that effort as the installation date nears.

Firefox will continue to be an option for HUBS and the current version in use at the University is 38.1.1. This version works with the current version of HUBS and the new version of HUBS, but Smart View users should note that Reporting and Analysis does not work with Firefox.

As always, please send an email to hubs@harvard.edu with any questions or concerns.
