Internet Explorer Security Updates May Affect Oracle and HUBS Applications

September 18, 2014

The following announcement affects users of Harvard’s Oracle eBusiness Suite and HUBS applications who use Internet Explorer to access these applications.

Microsoft has added a new security feature to Internet Explorer (versions 8 – 11) that went live September 9, 2014. The IE security update will block out-of-date ActiveX controls and may affect how the Oracle eBusiness Suite and HUBS applications using JAVA display information. Other browsers (Firefox, Safari, Chrome, etc) will not be affected.

To avoid any interruption in service, HUIT & FSS advises that you check and/or update your trusted sites to ensure they include  https://*.cadm.harvard.edu and http://*.cadm.harvard.eduA step-by-step instruction on how to add a trusted site is posted to the FSS website.  Most Oracle Financials and HUBS users should already have these trusted sites setup, however, in the event that you do not, you will not be able to open the Forms in these applications until you set your trusted sites accordingly. Also, if you do receive the JAVA Blocker pop up message, we recommend you do not select ‘Update’ or ‘Run this Time’. Please check your Trusted Site settings.
