Modernization of Financial Reporting (MFR) Project Update

GRANTS MANAGEMENT DASHBOARD UPDATE
The Modernization of Financial Reporting Project recently converted all of the CREW Grants Management reports into OBI dashboards. As part of this migration process we were able to incorporate a number of enhancements beyond just straight CREW replacement. The feedback we have received to date is that these improvements will greatly benefit our user community in both the pre and post award processes. 

The project team has been working closely with our business partners in OSP, members of the Grants Working Group (GWG) and several other departmental representatives to pilot and test the dashboards. During the testing process, pilot participants have identified a number of enhancement requests that the Grants Working Group has prioritized. The project team is actively addressing these requests and recently deployed a number of user facing enhancements to existing dashboards, which can be seen in the April 2016 release notes. On a monthly basis you can expect to see additional functionality rolled out for this content.

As we prepare for a wider-scale roll-out of the OBI Grants Management dashboards, the project team has partnered with OSP, CWD, and the University-wide Training Team to develop a training plan for the OBI Grants Management dashboards. Training will begin in June, with multiple trainings each month through the end of October. Each of the school-based Engagement Councils will be distributing information about local roll-out and these trainings later this month. During this transition period Grants Reporting data will be available in both CREW and OBI.

The CREW Grants Management reports are expected to be decommissioned on November 1st. At that time, FSS Client Services and the Harvard Data Warehouse (HDW) will disable the CREW Reports and OBI will be the sole source for this information.  

DETAIL LISTING OUTREACH
The MFR project team is committed to obtaining input from the large user community in the on-going design of the future-state Detail Listing in Oracle Business Intelligence. A sample of individual users representing all schools has recently participated in focused interviews to provide more information about current use of the Detail Listing. The initial feedback from the interviews is being incorporated into a survey that will be distributed to all Detail Listing users sometime later this month. Please review and complete the survey as your participation is a key component to design a dashboard that effectively addresses users’ needs. 

There is no current decommission timeline for the CREW Detail Listing report and users may rest assured that it will be available throughout calendar year-end 2016.

CHANGE MANAGEMENT FOCUS

As we proceed to Phase 2 of the MFR project, the team is still heavily involved in design, development and testing of dashboards.  Project leadership has recognized that it is becoming more important to increase focus on areas within Change Management as well. Thus, plans are being made to assemble the Engagement Councils (ECs) next month in order to share project leadership’s current approach related to Training, Communication, Roll-out and overall Organizational Readiness. The on-going support and involvement of ECs is fundamental in order to ensure the effective launch of the OBI tool and adoption across all respective areasPlease look out for additional updates about Change Management next month.
