Scheduling PeopleSoft Reports

July 16, 2015

This information is also located on a 1-page job aid in Eureka.

Occasionally you may notice your reports remain in a queued status for a very long time on the process monitor page, especially between 9:01 am – 10:00 am on the day Payroll opens. This happens when PeopleSoft has reached the maximum amount of reports that can be run simultaneously, and additional reports are processed one at a time until the queue opens up.

To alleviate this bottleneck, it is recommended to schedule your reports any time after 12:01 am on the day that Payroll opens.  Doing this is beneficial in a few ways:

  • Your report will have run and be waiting for you to download from the process monitor.
  • You won’t have to wait in line for it to run during the 9:01am – 10:00am hour.
  • It reduces the overall amount of reports that get queued up during that time.

To schedule a report, take the following steps after clicking the Run button:

Changing the run date and time fields.

  1. Set the Run Date to the day Payroll is open (refer to the payroll calendar, especially for holidays).
  2. Set the Run Time to any time between the hours of 12:01am and 9:00am, with an earlier run time recommended to prevent a bottleneck during working hours.  Note:  pay specific attention to whether you set the run time to AM or PM
  3. Click OK.
  4. When you return to the Process Monitor page the next morning, the Run Status should be Success and the Distribution Status should be Posted. Click Details and follow the normal process for accessing the report results:

Process Scheduler page indicating that a report's status is success and posted.
