We’re Live! New my.harvard Student Financial System Release a Success

April 16, 2015

In partnership with University Student Financial Services, Financial Administration, HUIT, and the schools, the Student Information System Program successfully rolled out the student financials component of the new my.harvard student information system.

Users gained access to the system on Monday, March 23. Students and third parties have successfully made payments, and student financials administrators from the schools have been accessing an array of services including reviewing student accounts, processing refunds, and uploading finance and data files.

During this release, we retired the pre-existing student warehouse, and implemented the new Student Information Analytics data warehouse for student financials and loans. We also converted data from legacy systems (SIS+, HERS2, and PowerCampus students) and moved it into the new system, allowing us to deploy a number of new functionalities:

  • Student billing, receivables, and collections systems.
  • File Transfer Utility, allowing users to upload tuition and other transactions.
  • Online student refund request process for schools.
  • Oracle General Ledger interface.
  • Electronic bill payment and presentment (via vendor, Nelnet).
  • Systems allowing for incoming biographic, demographic, address, and student status information from the schools.
  • Connections to IDDB, ECSI, and other interfaces, allowing for outgoing biographic, demographic, address, and student status information.

This release marks an important milestone for the SIS Program and the University as we work toward an integrated student information system at Harvard. We are thrilled with the dedication and hard work from the team and our partners, and are looking forward to many more successful releases!
