Ad Hoc Reporting Project Update

June 11, 2020

Since the decision to move forward with the implementation of the Oracle Analytics Server, the project is advancing on two fronts:

BRIO Query Conversion

A process to begin analysis of the existing BRIO queries has begun.  The ARP Project Team is organizing into engagement teams to assist schools with the analysis of their current BRIO .bqy inventory.

These teams will analyze the queries to identify:

  1. An understanding of the business process supported by the .bqys.
  2. Data model needs.
  3. Opportunities to re-envision the content to better support business needs.

With this information in hand, the team and school can agree on a conversion plan and next steps.

Expansion and Training of the Project Team

Part of the overall strategy to implement the Oracle Analytics Server is to enhance the knowledge and capability within Administrative Technology Services (ATS) to work with the reporting tools and to provide consulting services to the schools.

To ensure that we have adequate resources for the BRIO conversion and future reporting work, we are moving forward with Wave 0, which is intended for ATS units to be trained to assist users with BRIO conversion activities.

This month, Wave 0 users will be trained in OAS and SQL so we can begin to work with the schools on BRIO conversion.

Please visit the ARP wiki site for more information about the project and please do not hesitate to contact the team at any time with questions you may have.
