ATS Reporting and Analytics Program Update

August 13, 2020

Here is the latest updates concerning the ATS Reporting and Analytics Program Update:

Expanded Scope New Program Name

  • The project’s original scope focused on the replacement of BRIO as the ad hoc reporting tool for the financial and research administration communities. This remains a key and critical success factor for the project.
  • With the decision to move forward with the Oracle Analytics Server (OAS), the scope of the project has now been expanded to include:
    • Working with the multiple reporting tools (Analysis/Dashboards, Data Visualization, Oracle Analytics Publisher) in the OAS Toolkit
    • Housing enterprise reports, such as those in the Harvard Analytics and Reporting Tool (HART), and Student Information Analytics (SIA), as well as self-service reports
    • Enabling additional tenants outside of the financial and research administration communities to potentially house enterprise-wide and self-service reports
  • To meet these diverse needs, the project is evolving into an ongoing reporting and analytics program and will henceforth be known as the ATS Reporting and Analytics Program.

HART Dashboard Migration

The Harvard Analytics and Reporting Tool (HART) Dashboards will become part of the new OAS.

The HART Dashboard migration will include:

  • A brand new build of OAS (includes the latest version of Oracle Business Intelligence [OBI], the backbone of HART and SIA dashboards)
  • Migration of the existing HART dashboard portfolio (as well as SIA dashboards and GMAS BIP content) into OAS
  • A change to the current HART URL
  • Analysis of the impact of migrating the dashboards
  • New overall look and feel of the OAS
  • Updated job aids and videos with new information
  • Additional training mechanisms will be available, such as webinars on online training

The migration and possible upgrade of HART dashboards will take place after the build of the new OAS platform is complete.

BRIO Query Analysis

BRIO query analysis will be managed by business area workstream leads.  This also includes those users who did some preliminary conversion work in Tableau last year.

Work continues with our reporting analysts reviewing existing .bqy files and creating recommendations for conversion that will include:

  • Enhancement of existing HART dashboards
  • Development of New HART dashboards
  • Use of OAS Publisher for self-service reporting and sharing
  • Use of OAS Data Visualizer for self-service visualizations
  • Use of OAS Analysis/Answers/Dashboards for self-service reports
  • Based on the recommendations, we will be planning meetings with schools/units and reviewing the recommendations with them
  • A recommended path for conversion will then be defined, including training and timelines to complete the work
