August Updates for Electronic Submission Tracking and Reporting (ESTR)

The next release of changes to the Electronic Submission Tracking and Reporting (ESTR) system for IRBs will be completed Thursday, August, 21 2014 between 6:00 pm and 7:00 pm.

This release focuses on revising notifications for greater consistency, and correcting some reported bugs and system issues. This additionally impacts the following elements of IRB system use:

  • Notifications: We have completed a comprehensive review and revision of many notifications based on ESTR use and user-feedback.
  • SmartForm
    • Additional departments are now available for selection when completing the SmartForm: Harvard X, History and Literature, Harvard College Library, Society of Fellows, and University Health Services
    • The Final Page has been revised to include clear instructions regarding how to submit an application
  • Workspaces
    • Corrected formatting in areas affected by the Portal upgrade and reduced the number of items which default display on “All Submissions” tabs
    • The document library (available by clicking IRB on the red menu bar, then IRB Library) now includes all blank forms under the “Templates” tab
    • The Timeout Window has been made larger to fit the HUID and PIN log in box in after system timeout (which takes about 30 minutes of not using ESTR)
