Quick Tip: Best Practice: Don’t Default that Customization

Customizations can be a great time saver but defaulting a customization—meaning that the customization will appear as soon as you bring up the dashboard, can cause more problems than help.

Setting a default customization can cause two known problems: 1) Your dashboard will not render if a change is made to the dashboard; and 2) If someone sends you a bookmark link, the link will not work because you have set a default customization.

Your best bet is to remove the customization from being a default so that you need to apply each of your customizations.  To remove your customization from being the default:

  1. Select the Page Options menu under your HUID and select Edit Customization.
  2. Click the radio button that says No Personal Customizations.
  3. Click OK at the bottom of the page.
