New GMAS Features – User Help

August 13, 2015

The GMAS 2.0 Project Team recently converted 24 pages belonging to the accounts, sponsor notice and sub-agreement modules to a new page design and layout. This layout provides larger fonts, leverages more space on the page, highlights key page information, and provides page and data field assistance.

This release provided users with online help on many of the converted pages that is topic-focused (by page), procedural and/or reference information. These help features are referred to as tool tips, related links and  page info and offer the GMAS team the ability to update these help tools outside of releases. Therefore, if you have new information that you think should be added to any of the converted pages, submit a ticket by emailing contactGMAS@harvard.edu and it will be reviewed by the GMAS Training Committee for posting.

Tool Tips

Tool tips provide reference information about specific fields and actions on a page to help users understand the data presented in the field as well as why certain actions cannot be performed. In order to see the tool tip, users need to hover over the field name or action to enable the additional information.

Related Links

Related links provide access to additional procedural and reference information that might be helpful to users as they navigate pages and actions.  The related links is a drop-down of links related to the page that will open in a new browser window once clicked.  The links navigate to relevant external sites, job aids and wiki pages.  Related links can be found in the upper right hand corner of the screen when they are available. The related links will remain static on the top of the page as you scroll through larger pages.

Page Info

Page information has been added to some of the converted pages providing users with additional contextual information around specific page processes, statuses and stages.  Page info opens as an information panel that provides more detailed help content than the tool tips. Page info can be found in the upper right hand corner of the screen when they are available. The page info icon will remain static on the top of the page as you scroll through larger pages.
