Announcing the “Name our Oracle Business Intelligence Suite Contest”

Are you creative?  Have some fun, share your creative genius, and win a pizza party for your team!  Enter our “Name our Oracle Business Intelligence Suite Contest” by Friday, April 27th.  To enter, simply email Alison Wellman Smith with your suggested name.

Help us name and brand our OBI suite.  Currently, HUIT has two different OBI environments: one based on the Student Data Warehouse, and one based on the Harvard Data Warehouse.  The second one (and the one we need named!) includes the dashboards for the non-student Accounts Receivables, CAPS, Cash Management, Chart of Accounts, CSMA, Financials, Grants Management, Procure to Pay, Travel & Expense, and User Security folders.

There is no limit to the number of entries a person can make.  Entry closes at 5 p.m. on Friday, April 27th.  The co-chairs of the 4 non-student OBI Working Groups (CAPS, Procure to Pay, Financial, and Grants Management) will narrow down the selections to the top 5.  We will then send out the top 5 names to all OBI users in this community for a vote.  The name with the most votes wins!

The winner will receive:

  • A pizza party for their department/unit/center up to a $150 value
  • Gratitude from Data Management Services – Thanks a $Million$!!
  • Endless acclaim, renown and fame for you and your team – Priceless!

April Monthly OBI Release

The next OBI release will begin on Thursday, April 29th at 6 p.m.  All changes will be implemented and the release complete by 9 a.m. on Friday, April 27th.  Keep an eye on the OBI Release Notes wiki page for details of dashboard changes in this release.

OBI Tip of the Month: Use the Transaction Listing All-Lite for Quick Turnaround

Looking for a quick answer to common transaction listing questions with little to no wait?  Do you have access to the Transaction Listing All dashboard?  Try using its sister dashboard: the Transaction Listing All-Lite!

Here’s why the Transaction Listing All-Lite can deliver great info at dramatically faster speeds:

  • Less Overhead:  The dashboard includes only child object codes in order to find your chart values faster.
  • An Exclusive Fiscal Year Prompt:  Unique to the Transaction Listing dashboards, the TL Lite includes a Fiscal Year search-e.g., select 2000, 2014, or 2017 results quickly and easily.
  • No Hidden Columns:  What you see in the results is what you get—the 23 most common columns render immediately, with no need to include additional columns.

Though you will not find Include Column in the right-click menu, you’ll still be able to take advantage of all of the OBI features you love: exclude columns, subtotal, move columns to prompts and sections, export, print, save customizations and send bookmark links!

And, of course, the TL Lite dashboard, like its TL cousins, can be used with the TLX Macro!

Please note: if you do not have access to the Transaction Listing All dashboard, you will not have access to the Transaction Listing All-Lite. Please work with your Authorized Requestor if you think you should have access.
