Change to How HUIDs Are Assigned Gives New Harvard “Persons of Interest” One ID for Life

The Identity and Access Management (IAM) team at Harvard University Information Technology (HUIT) is pleased to announce that beginning July 9, 2014, all Persons of Interest (POIs) new to Harvard will be issued Harvard ID (HUID) numbers using the IDGen system. IDGen has a built-in matching algorithm that greatly reduces the incidence of duplicates, while the previous method of issuing POI-specific Harvard ID numbers that begin with a leading zero lacked a programmatic check for potential identity matches. The Center for Workplace Development is reaching out to schools and departments to gather the business requirements for a system to register and track employee trainings.  The goal of the selected tool is to replace whatever you are doing locally with an enterprise Learning Management System (LMS)  that all of Harvard can utilize.  This tool will be used for tracking instructor-led trainings, online courses and webinars for trainings taken in and outside of the University.

Upcoming System Outages for Electronic Submission Tracking and Reporting (ESTR)

ESTR will be unavailable on the following weekly schedule to complete regular system maintenance:

  • Sundays through July 27, 2014: from 12:30 AM EST until 5:30 AM EST
  • Saturdays beginning August 2, 2014: from 12:30 AM EST until 2:30 AM EST

Period of Work Performed added to the Detailed Listing (csv) in support of effort reporting (ecrt)

The Period of Work Performed (PWP) entered on an ADI, manual or Wasabi salary journals has now been added to the CSV version of the Detailed Listing in CREW. It can be found as the last column on the right and is labeled Period of Work Performed. The PWP will not be found on payroll entries (weekly, bi-weekly, and monthly payroll): those dates are input into ecrt as part of the automatic payroll data feeds
