Ad Hoc Reporting Project Update - March 2020

March 26, 2020

The Ad Hoc Reporting Project team has been working diligently amidst a changing work environment. Since last month’s update, the following activities have completed:

  • Created a sandbox environment for the Oracle Analytics Server (OAS)
  • Partnered with the community to identify, refine, and initiate development of five business use cases with Data Visualization (DV), the newest technology Harvard now owns with the release of OAS.  The team is also taking this opportunity to try the use cases in other OAS report offerings such as Analysis, which is the back-end technology underlying HART, to better appreciate the full range of OAS capabilities.
  • Initiated meetings with the business use case authors to obtain feedback on the report output.
  • Conducted two consulting engagements that explored best practices to implement, secure and deploy OAS. The second engagement was successfully completed March 13th using remote work capabilities.
  • Trained the Core Assessment Team on DV and explored its current feature set.

When use case development is completed, project team report developers will meet with the authors again and business members of our Core Assessment Team. The purpose of these meetings is to review results, answer questions, and obtain sign-off that the use cases have been successfully solved.

The project team intends to deliver a recommendation to both the Executive and Steering Committees the week of April 6th; this timeline obviously could diverge based on the evolution of COVID-19. That recommendation will include a SWOT (Strengths, Weaknesses, Opportunities, and Threats) analysis, a use case matrix that matches the use cases to the best OAS Tools, and a financial analysis.

Please visit the ARP wiki site for more information about the project and please do not hesitate to contact the team at any time with questions you may have.
