Modernization of Financial Reporting (MFR) Project Update

OBI Financials Pilot

The MFR Project Team continues to prepare for the go-live of the OBI Financials Dashboards beginning this summer. We have completed the individual school specific Change Management sessions and have begun to put together school specific go-live plans. The Project Team is building the Data Access Controls (DAC) 2.0 solution, developing training materials and conducting Pilot User Sessions to provide greater familiarity with the dashboards.

The Project Team continues to design and build the DAC 2.0 solution which will be delivered in the Production environment by the end of May. Features include dual segment security (security based on select two segments of the Chart of Account such as Org-Fund, Org-Root), the ability for a user to have multiple roles, and non-contiguous segment values. These additional security features will ensure we are able to provide the appropriate security for individuals across the university.

We have been working diligently to develop and socialize the OBI Financials Training Strategy with key project governance groups for their feedback and approval. OBI Financials Training will include instructor-led training for 6 of the 15 Financials dashboards which were determined necessary based on the dashboard complexity, user volume and level of change from CREW report. Pilot training sessions with select school representatives will take place in May in order to allow us to more closely refine the training program to meet our audience’s needs. Instructor-led training will be supported by wiki help pages, job aids, and videos for each dashboard. The online and instructor led OBI Tools Training is being updated as well to review the basic functionality of OBI prior to specific dashboard training. The OBI Tools Training is a prerequisite to receiving access to the system and attending any training.

The Project Team continues to schedule and conduct Pilot User Sessions through April and May providing users with guidance on using the dashboards as well as some helpful tips and tricks.
