OBI “By the Numbers” for February 2017

  • 1,345: Number of distinct users in OBI for ALL subject areas
  • 165,447: Number of distinct requests made in ALL subject areas, about half of which were from the “Transaction Listing All” dashboard (81,157 requests)
  • 1,446: Number of people trained across the university on the OBI Financial dashboards

March Monthly OBI Release

The next OBI release will begin on Thursday, March 29th at 6 p.m.  All changes will be implemented and the release complete by 9 a.m. on Friday, March 30th.  Keep an eye on the OBI Release Notes wiki page for details of dashboard changes in this release.OBI Tip of the Month: Get Your Questions Answered!

Our re-designed Frequently Asked Questions (FAQ) Page is designed to help you answer your OBI questions quickly and effectively. The page is broken up by subject area with links to the most commonly-asked questions about using OBI.

Each question is linked so you can immediately get to the answer.  The page provides links to job aids and simulations to provide further assistance with a particular topic.

Have You Checked Out an OBI Drop In Sessions?

These 1-hour sessions are designed for you to get 1-on-1 help with OBI: answering questions, saving displays as customizations, etc. The sessions are offered monthly. You can attend in person at 8 Story Street, Room B2, Cambridge or virtually via WebEx.

All sessions are held from 11am-12pm.  The upcoming dates are:

  • Friday, April 13, 2018
  • Friday, May 11, 2018
  • Friday, June 8, 2018

Now Available: Online Simulations for the TLX Macro

The TLX Macro is a tool used by department administrators, research administration personnel, tub finance officers and financial analysts to aid in transaction review and the modification of journal entries. Videos on how to use the macro with the OBI Transaction Listing dashboards are now available. Please see the OBI Simulation website to access the videos.

The videos include information on how to:

  • Download the macro
  • Export results from the Transaction Listing dashboard for use with the macro
  • Import those results into the macro
  • Indicate lines for modification/correction
  • Make the modifications and populate those modified lines into an ADI spreadsheet for upload to the General Ledger.
  • Make column changes
  • Take advantage of macro features such as pivot tables and DFF object codes.
