Important dates for the FY20 Q2 project statements:
Review period: January 21, 2020 to February 10 2020
Certification period: February 11, 2020 to March 11, 2020
FY20 Q2 Project Certifications Due: March 11, 2020
Ecrt Basics training sessions will be offered on both the Cambridge and Longwood Medical Area campuses:
- Longwood Medical Area: Tuesday, January 28th, 10:00am – 12:00pm. Register in the Harvard Training Portal
- Cambridge Campus: Tuesday, February 4th, 2:00pm – 4:00pm. Register in the Harvard Training Portal

Data Safety
Data Safety is now available!
Data Safety, a new application intended to support tracking, monitoring, and compliance associated with the data security requirements for research data sets, is in a soft launch period. During this period, researchers have the option to use the system to complete required reviews and provide feedback. Based on this feedback, we will continue to refine system functionality and policies to make improvements to the security review process. When the updated Harvard Research Data Security Policy is confirmed early this year, system use will be required for Research Data Security reviews.

GMAS
Development is underway to enhance the cost share module. The team has conducted user research to help with these efforts and continues working closely with the Cost Share Committee and the GMAS Business Steering and Executive Committees. The release date is still being determined, but it is expected to be sometime in late March or early April.

ESTR-IRB was updated in December!
December Release Highlight: Manage Related Projects
It is now possible to establish and display relationships between studies and submissions in ESTR-IRB, Agreements-DUA, and the new Data Safety and Security systems. This new option to relate projects in all three systems allows researchers and administrators to quickly access related projects in other systems and see real-time status information on related projects.

The Research Administration and Compliance Systems team has been offering information sessions around campus for the new Data Safety system, but if you need a refresher on ESTR-IRB or have new potential users of the system, we’d love to come talk to you too. Continue to be in a period where school users are getting familiar with and using the major enhancements deployed in November including the Personnel Plan module and various User Interface enhancements.
