Federal Work Study on Sponsored Awards Policy

Effective January 1, 2020, the Federal Work Study Policy went into effect that does not allow federal grant funds to fund the institutional share of the Federal Work Study (FWS) Program. Work study charges on federal awards between October 1, 2019 and December 31, 2019 must be manually certified for effort or moved from the federal award to a non-federal funding source. The full policy can be found...

New Publication Format!

The Harvard University Information Technology Research Administration and Compliance Systems team supports a number of University-wide systems. Historically, we shared system updates via separate eNews articles. However, to simplify information sharing with our community, we will now publish updates across our applications under this one eNews article heading.

GMAS

GMAS had a release May 31st which included:

  • Changes to comments
  • Changes to the current and pending support download
  • Updates to financial deliverables
  • Addition of the edit dates button on the proposal homepage
  • A new funding instrument type
  • Bug fixes, and so much more

The FY19 Q3 Certification period concluded on June 4th, 2019 with a 100% certification rate!

FY19 Q4 project statements and FY19 Annual statements important dates:

  • Review period: 9/3/19 to 9/23/19
  • Certification period: 9/24/19 to 10/23/19

The next ecrt Basics training sessions will be offered in early September on both the Cambridge and Longwood Medical Area campuses.

All Request for Proxy of Authority for Annual Effort Certifications forms must be submitted to OSP by Friday, September 13th. Tub deadlines may be earlier.

Year-end reminder: Please have any employee changes for FY20 in PeopleSoft by EOB July 1st, 2019. In any case, ecrt will use the data that is present on July 1st in PeopleSoft to determine quarterly vs. annual employee type status for FY20. This status will be locked in for FY20 and cannot be changed until FY21.

OSP, Sponsored Expenditure Guidelines: Effective Date Extension

December 3, 2015

Following school requests for additional time to prepare, the Office for Sponsored Programs and the University Financial Policy Office have extended the effective date of the updated Sponsored Expenditure Guidelines and the related section in the Travel Policy (Appendix G).  The new effective date is 3/1/2016 with early adoption strongly recommended.  The extension will be reflected in both policies. Sponsored Administration Policy Updates to Take Effect Starting January 1, 2016

November 19, 2015

On January 1, 2016, Harvard will put into effect several policy updates pertaining to the work of the Operations and Policy Committee, Office for Sponsored Programs (OSP), and Office of the Controller (OC).

Specifically, updated versions of the following policies will be released:

  • Travel Policy
  • Sponsored Closeout and Financial Reporting Policy
  • Responsibility of Preparers and Approvers Policy
  • Sponsored Expenditure Guidelines Policy
